ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF COMPUTER-AID ROAD DESIGN

Igor Gameliak Anna Khomiak

Abstract

The Department of Road Design of KADI (now the Department of System Design of Transport Infrastructure Objects and Geodesy) has a priority in the introduction of electronic computers for road design. A new scientific direction was created - automation of design work (system computer-aided design). Using the accumulated experience in design automation, a new discipline was developed and introduced into the educational process for the specialty “Highways” - “Fundamentals of Automation of Highway Design” (now “Computer Technologies in Transport Construction”). The stages of creation and development of automated road design at the Department of Road Design of the Kyiv Automobile and Highway Institute in the 70s and 80s of the last century are analyzed, which are the basis for the successful further development of this area at NTU
