Automobile Roads and Road Construction is a professional scientific journal of the National Transport University.
Certificate of State Registration: KV No. 25199-15139PR, dated July 20, 2022 (issued by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine).

In 1964, the Kyiv Automobile and Road Institute (since 2000 – the National Transport University) founded the interdepartmental republican scientific collection Automobile Roads and Road Construction.
From the moment of its establishment, the publication became a leading professional platform for presenting the results of scientific research in the field of road science and construction. The collection has played an important role in the development of the industry’s science, uniting scientific ideas and practical achievements of both renowned scholars and young researchers and road construction specialists.

From the third issue (1967) to the eightieth issue (2011), the collection was published in Ukrainian.
Today, articles in the journal may be published in either Ukrainian or English.
Over 61 years, 116 issues have been published, reflecting the sustained interest of the scientific community in the problems of road construction.

The first editorial board of the Interdepartmental Republican Scientific Collection Automobile Roads and Road Construction was headed by D. A. Rudenko – Editor-in-Chief, V. D. Zinchenko – Deputy Editor-in-Chief, and Ye. Ya. Deryabin – Executive Secretary. The editorial board included well-known scholars such as F. V. Bersheda, O. K. Birulia, M. I. Volkov, H. M. Zub, Ya. D. Livshyts, H. A. Lilitskyi, M. V. Ornatskyi, K. S. Terenetskyi, K. A. Khavkin, Ya. V. Khomyak, and H. I. Shulha.

At various times, the editorial board also included and published works by distinguished scholars such as H. Ye. Lypskyi, M. F. Dovhal, V. Y. Zavorytskyi, V. O. Zolotarov, V. S. Yehorov, Ya. A. Kaluzkyi, V. V. Kontseva, V. M. Sidenko, S. Y. Solodkyi, H. K. Syunyi, Ye. N. Khomyakov, B. S. Radovskyi, O. O. Rasskazov, S. H. Mikhovych, and others.

Among the authors of the collection were prominent scientists and practitioners, including O. T. Batrakov, M. P. Varvak, E. V. Havrylov, I. M. Hrushko, T. R. Davydyants, E. A. Kazarnovskyi, V. I. Kuzmin, O. I. Leushyn, Ya. D. Livshyts, A. Ye. Merzlikin, V. V. Silianov, V. P. Starovoida, L. M. Tymofieva, O. Ya. Tulaiev, Ya. V. Khomyak, V. V. Filipov, V. R. Yaromko, and others.

Over the years of publication, the editorial board was headed by four Editors-in-Chief: D. A. Rudenko, Ya. V. Khomyak, V. Y. Zavorytskyi, and V. Ya. Savenko.

Dmytro Arystarkhovych Rudenko – Laureate of the USSR State Prize, Professor, founder and first Head of the Department of Organisation and Mechanisation of Road Construction at the Kyiv Automobile and Road Institute, and the first Editor-in-Chief of the scientific and technical collection Automobile Roads and Road Construction, Issues 1–3 (1965–1966).
Yaroslav Vasylovych Khomyak – Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Vice-Rector for Research at the Kyiv Automobile and Road Institute, Head of the Department of Road Design, and the first Head of the Department of Ukrainian Studies. He served as Editor-in-Chief of the scientific and technical collection Automobile Roads and Road Construction, Issues 4–50 (1967–1992).

Volodymyr Yosypovych Zavorytskyi – Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Dean of the Road Construction Faculty, Head of the Department of Road Construction and Maintenance, Full Member of the Academy of Sciences of Higher Education of Ukraine and the Transport Academy of Ukraine. He served as Editor-in-Chief of the scientific and technical collection Automobile Roads and Road Construction, Issues 51–53 (1993–1996).

Vyacheslav Yakovych Savenko – Honoured Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, former Dean of the Road Construction Faculty, Head of the Department of Transport Construction and Property Management (formerly the Department of Road Construction and Maintenance), Full Member of three academies, and Honorary Professor of several higher educational institutions, including foreign ones. He has been awarded the Order of Merit, 3rd Class, as well as the distinctions “For Scientific Achievements”, “Excellence in Education of Ukraine”, and “Honoured Road Builder of Ukraine”. He has served as Editor-in-Chief of the scientific and technical collection Automobile Roads and Road Construction from 1997 to the present, overseeing Issues 54 to the current issue.

Since 1993 and to the present, over 65 issues (51–116) have been managed by the Executive Secretary of the Editorial Board – Volodymyr Vasylovych Petrovych, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Professor, Senior Research Fellow, Full Member of the Transport Academy of Ukraine, and Professor of the Department of Transport Construction and Property Management at the National Transport University. He has been awarded the distinctions “Excellence in Education of Ukraine” and “Honoured Road Builder of Ukraine”.

In 1979, the scientific and technical collection Automobile Roads and Road Construction was assigned the ISSN 0365-8171 – the International Standard Serial Number. In 2019, it was additionally assigned ISSN 2707-4080 (Online) and ISSN 2707-4099 (CD).

The main purpose of the scientific journal is to create a platform for the exchange of scientific information and research results among a wide range of representatives of the academic community. The publication aims to present the results of scientific and methodological developments, particularly those of international relevance, within the field of construction and transport infrastructure.

The scientific journal Automobile Roads and Road Construction publishes materials reflecting the results of scientific and theoretical (analytical), scientific and practical (experimental and research), and review studies by scientists and specialists from the transport and construction sectors, research institutions, and industry. The publication covers issues related to current challenges and the development of the road construction sector in accordance with the fields of study and specialities approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of 29 April 2015, No. 266 (as amended by the Resolution of 7 July 2021, No. 762), namely:
Construction and Civil Engineering; Geodesy and Land Management; Hydraulic Engineering, Water Engineering and Water Technologies; Environmental Protection Technologies; Economics; Management; Marketing; Entrepreneurship, Trade and Exchange Activities; Project Management; Systems Analysis; and Industrial Engineering.

In 2016 (Issue No. 96), the Editorial Council of the journal was established.
In 2017 (Issue No. 101), the International Editorial Council was founded, comprising leading scholars from Ukraine and other countries.

Starting from 2021 (Issue No. 104), the scientific journal has been published in a new format that meets international publishing standards.
After re-registration by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine (Certificate Series KV No. 25199-15139PR, dated 20 July 2022), the publication received an updated title –
the Scientific Journal Automobile Roads and Road Construction.

The Scientific Journal Automobile Roads and Road Construction is published by decision of the Academic Council of the National Transport University. Printed copies of the journal are distributed among state and major libraries of Ukraine, as well as leading educational, scientific, research, and design institutions specialising in the field of road transport. The publication is also sent to enterprises engaged in the construction, reconstruction, repair, and maintenance of motor roads and airfields, as well as to institutions that are required to receive publications containing the main results of dissertation research.

According to the Orders of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated 30 November 2021, No. 1290, and 7 April 2022, No. 320, the journal has been included in the List of Scientific Professional Publications of Ukraine (Category B).
